A Gentleman’s Homecoming by Ruth Axtell Morren

Ruth Axtell Morren has tempted readers with her lovely Regency romances for years, but I just finished reading one of her Victorian’s. It was delightful.

A Gentleman’s Homecoming is a story of the clash between bitterness and hope, as personified in the hero and heroine. Luke Travis knew his fair share of heartache and betrayal. After marrying his lovely wife, Irene, and joining his father-in-laws engineering business, he’d thought he had the perfect life. But behind closed doors, his beautiful wife wasn’t all she seemed. Soon, Irene left him and their young son, to pursue another relationship.

Heartbroken, Luke leaves his son, Sam, with his in-laws – but when his wife dies, his father-in-law vies for full custody of Sam. Luke disappears. Now, years later, Luke returns to England. His father-in-law is dead, and Luke hopes to reconcile with his son.

Bobbie Gardner has loved Luke ever since they had an unexpected meeting when she was fourteen years old. Always the quiet and dutiful sister, Bobbie watched as her sister left a devastating wake with her betrayal. Determined to make things right,  Bobbie helped raise her nephew, Sam. Now, face to face with the only man who ever stirred her heart, Bobbie prays for strength to keep Sam from following his father across the globe, and keep her heart from warming too much to her embittered brother-in-law.

Bobbie’s consistent compassion strikes at the heart of Luke’s anger, but is her gentleness enough to whittle away at his hardened heart against all of the Gardners? Will she lose Sam in the process?

This beautiful love story, rich with period detail and innovative concepts of the age, rings of timeless truths. Love conquers all. Forgiveness sets a person free. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s never too late to mend a broken relationship.

Her characters are realistic and engaging. She does a fabulous job of showing the reticent teenager, Sam. From Harlequin Love Inspired, check out this new novel by author, Ruth Axtell Morren.

It’s time for healing to begin.

Oh, yay!!! A new book from Ruth Axtell Morren! I’m so excited! I didn’t know about this one. Can’t WAIT to get it and read it! I’m such a big fan of Ruth’s! I have almost all of her books. They’re all so memorable. She really knows how to build the relationship tension and then give you such a satisfying ending to the romance.

Excited to read this, Ruth! Thanks, Pepper, for letting me know about it!
