Darcy through the years – 1940

Okay, so let’s go through some of the many ‘remakes’ and ‘retakes’ of Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of our favorite hero, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Let’s start with one of the most familiar faces of the silver screen… Laurence Olivier played the part of Mr. Darcy in the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice along with Greer Garson as Lizzie Bennet. This version was sweet with some added romantic scenes, such as Mr. Darcy giving Lizzie and archery lesson.Darcy was dramatized as sarcastic and a bit mischevious. The costumes from Gone with the Wind were reused in this movie.
