Big Ben is actually a part of London’s Houses of Parliament, namely the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The oldest part of Parliament is a portion called Westminster Hall. The walls to this part of the building were built in 1097. The palace has known fire in 1834, in which it had to be almost completely rebuilt, and some destruction from the bombings of WWII.
The architecture is absolutely beautiful!
