So, the ballots have been counted (wouldn’t want that job), the votes are in, and we have a new president (another job I wouldn’t want). The hopes and wishes of Obama supporters have been fulfilled with a resounding applause starting in Chicago and waving through the rest of the U.S. For McCain supporters, well, some of them weren’t to happy about greeting the morning.

As Christians, we have a unique perspective in times like this where things may not go as we wish. We have hope. Obama mentioned ‘change’ a lot throughout his campagin, actually it’s been a recurring theme through both campaigns. Christians have the ULTIMATE ‘hope for change’. We have the life changing love of Jesus.

If we believe in a God who is soveriegn…if we hold to the truth that nothing in this life happens outside of His control and power, then we can trust Him even when life doesn’t turn out as we plan. Afterall, this is HIS world.

So, the verse for today (and future days):

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord. He directs it like a stream of water anywhere he pleases. ” Proverbs 21:1

I think this is a great reminder “for such a time as this.” I admit, I woke on Wednesday morning feeling rather low (and a little sick) after the election. But, on my 30 minute drive to work I got to listen to the Christian radio guys be their natural cheery selves and the music about our God be as uplifting as always! I was able to enter work with a spring in my step, remembering just Who our God is!!
