
Here is a look back at the Gatehouse from one of the bridges that crosses the River Wye on the grounds around Haddon Hall. I wonder what it must have been like to ride in a carriage through the gatehouse and then see the looming shadow of this grand home rising before you on the hill.
Since this is the house used as Thornfield Hall in the most recent adaptation of Jane Eyre, there is a greater element of mystery around it.
