Riber Castle

This is a picture of Riber Castle near Matlock. Our friends in Lea told us that this place is a ‘foley’, or a ‘fake castle’. In Andrew’s words, he said “Some chap in the late 1800s looked atop the hill and said, ‘I fancy myself a castle.’ So he built one to show off his money.” From the boards at the bottom of the ‘castle’ it’s obvious the structure is under some sort of construction. We learned that this ‘castle’ is being renovated to become apartments. Not only would it be a neat place to live because of the structure, but the view of the town of Matlock isn’t so bad either.
