Never Too Old for Fairy Tales & Giveaway

51Fu8DKFXyLToday we are celebrating fairytales and C.S. Lewis.

Why?

Well, I never tired of celebrating BOTH of those things, but also, Finding Ever After, a 4-in-1 collection of fairytale-ish novellas is FREE on Amazon through Saturday.

These stories will tickle your funny bone, touch your heart, and bring a little bit of ‘magic’ into the regular world.

About the book Finding Ever After:

Experience a touch of magic with these four fairytale-ish novellas that span over one hundred years. Linked by an illustrated book of fairytales, each novella is an enchanting combination of a beloved classic sprinkled with the author’s own brand of fairy dust.

Stairs and Stardust by me, is set in 1913 Asheville, NC at the beautiful 48249807_10217948542765877_8683367254722609152_oBiltmore Estate and includes a budding children’s book illustrator, an out-of-the box heir, and a teensy bit of Cinderella romance.

Entanglements by Rachel McMillan has a Rapunzel twist and is set in 1920’s Boston between a reluctant heiress, a charming piano tuner, and Entanglementsa game of chess.

Twice Upon A Time by Ashley Clark is a Beauty-And-The-Beast inspired tale that brings a romance novelist back home to her family’s pecan farm… and the ex-fiance she left behind.

Once Bitten Betsy St Amant is a nod to Snow White that includes a fake date with a handsome woodsman, seven geeks, and the world’s best apple tarts.

Twice Upon a TimeFairytales do not take away from life, but, in a real way, can enhance our vision. C.S. Lewis says, “He does not despise real woods because he has read of enchanted woods: the reading makes all real woods a little enchanted”

God created us with imaginations – the ability to see beyond the now and envision, dream, pretend of something moronce bittene? Why do you think? Well, for one thing, imagination is involved in so many aspects of life…and faith. Heaven, love, our ‘future’ self, our dreams.

Just seeing kids with their back-to-school signs about what they want to be when they grow up, shows imagination.

Fairytales can also inspire us to face our giants in life by not steering away from the dangers, wounds, and heartaches, but helping us to see other adventurers- not too different than ourselves- fight, problem-solve, grow, and change to make it through the dangers, heal from the wounds, and strengthen even in heartache.

Another quote by Lewis?

“Since it is so likely that they will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. . . Let there be wicked kings and beheadings, battles and duprizengeons, giants and dragons, and let villains be soundly killed at the end of the book”

So, in celebration of fairytales and Finding Ever After being ‘free’, I’m having a fairytale-ish giveaway.

Tell me which fairytale character you’d most like to be and I’ll put your name in the drawing for this little prize: A paperback copy of my novella, Between Stairs & Stardust, a Prince Charming candle created by Susanne Blumer of Sassafras on Sutton Bookshop, & a little fairytale-ish sign 😊

Don’t forget to leave your email address so I can get in touch with you if you win.

(The contest will run through Monday, September 2)

I love your books! It’s so hard to decide what fairytale character I would want to be. I think I’d choose to be Rapunzel from Tangled, just because she’s so fun.

I’ve enjoyed reading your books so much. Thank you. I’d choose to be the oldest girl in Narnia although I don’t recall her name… I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Narnia and Aslan!!!!

I can’t believe I’m writing this, because normally I would choose Cinderella, but I think I would like to be sleeping beauty. Just fall asleep one day and then wake up another day to have the love of a handsome prince. Wouldn’t that be earth shattering? I guess it could be creepy too because you haven’t known or formed a relationship with the prince (in my perfect world you would), but the whole rescuing thing and to have it all figured out sounds nice.

The fairytale I would most like to be in is definitely Beauty and the Beast. That library! Enchanted teapots and dressers and candlesticks, oh my! And the underlying theme of beauty coming from within is timeless and so breathtaking!

So many wonderful fairy tales from which to choose, but my all-time favorite is Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings. I admire his resilience, perseverance, and loyalty to his friends (especially Frodo). Along the journey of adventure he discovers (as do we) that he’s made of much sterner stuff than he could have possibly imagined. I not only want people like that in my life, I pray and desire that I can be that kind of a friend to others. Plus, he gets to marry the girl of his dreams in his own beautiful happily-ever-after. 🙂

If Rook is considered a fairy tale, I’ve always been inspired by Sophie Bellamy. Thank you Pepper for your uplifting stories!

I ordered Finding Ever After and look forward to reading the fairy tale-ish novellas. I think I’d most like to be in Beauty and the Beast as a fairy tale since Beauty shows kindness and compassion to the Beast. The other main characters in the fairy tales seem to be in some kind of distressing situation from which they need rescuing.

Hey Pepper, I’m so excited your book setting is at the Biltmore House!!! I live 20 minutes north of Asheville in Mars Hill. I would like to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she can look past his ugliness on the outside and inside. She’s not vain and needs someone handsome to be her man Plus she can sing and have so much fun and water beautiful gowns. That’s who I want to be💖

I think I’d like to be Cinderella. I love that dress!! And I don’t even wear dresses. Hmm.. I’ve never read or watched Beauty and the Beast. I guess I should rectify that.

Oh my goodness, I’d wish to be Snow White! I have black hair like hers and I had pale skin before chemo. Now, it’s tanned.
When I was a little girl there was a yellow house by itself with trees and woods around it that we would pass on our way to town. I would pretend that it was Snow White and the Drawfs cottage!

I absolutely adore your books, Pepper, and this uplifting giveaway is spectacular! If I were going to be in a fairy tale, I think I’d pick Belle from Beauty and the Beast. That library alone is enough!
