Visiting Home and Signing Books

2011-05-14 11_16_52If you’ve had a chance to read my new release, A Twist of Faith, you can probably guess that I love the Blue Ridge Mountains. I grew up in a very small place called Lambsburg, VA – which neighbored Hillsville, Va and Mt. Airy, NC (Andy Griffith’s hometown).

For most who’ve grown up in these mountains, or who have lived here for a generous amount of time, the blue-hued horizon means home. For me, the site brings comfort and a sense of belonging, and the views…beautiful, and a constant reminder of God’s great creativity.

I’m thrilled that this weekend I have the wonderful opportunity to head home for a book signing in Mt. Airy, NC.

Book signing Mt Airy

Is there a place that gives you a sense of home? Some location you enjoy reading or would like to read?

I love Mt Airy! Lucky you. I’m a very big Andy Griffith Show fan (watch it nearly everyday). My husband and I visited there a few years ago and had such a great time!

Gail, thanks for stopping by!! Mt. Airy is SUCH a cute town – and I fell in love with it all over again after visiting again this past weekend. It’s DEFINITELY going into a book 😉

I love your pictures of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Pepper. My town in northern Utah will always be home to me. We are in a valley surrounded by mountains. I have a large front porch that stretches across the front of the house with another in the back. I have a swing on the front porch where I love to sit on nice evenings and read.

Wow!! I love Andy Griffith!!! You are blessed to be from a beautiful part of the country. I’m from Memphis and I love to visit the mountains every fall. My hubs is a huge Tennessee vols fan and he loves to go to the games. As far as reading goes, I love to sit on our back deck when it’s pretty out. If not, I read in bed with the door closed so no one will bother me. Lol!

      Dana,
Tennessee Vols fans are die-hards, aren’t they? LOL
I’m with you about snuggling up somewhere quiet and reading. I love doing that when I can.

I was raised in a military family and was a military spouse for 28 years, I don’t have any certain location that I feel is home. I have several. Northwest Indiana is homevto my birth city and where my cousins on my mother’s side of the family live. Germany is where I spent many years during my youth and as a young military spouse. Texas is where I spent many years during my youth and where I graduated from high school. My cousins on my father’s side of the family live in West Texas and my sister lives in Eastern Texas. Washington State is home to my mother’s mother side of the family. I was married at Lakewood, Washington. I love Mt. Rainer, Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and Ocean Shores. I am currently living in Missouri. Just as I have done in other locations I have lived, I pick up the map and set out to exp!ore the area around me. I have visited Branson, the Gateway Arch, Purina Farms, Ha Ha Tonka State Park, George Washington Carver National Historic Park, and Precious Moments Chapel.

I forgot to mention I love reading books set in Washington, Texas, Oregon basically anywhere in the United States. I enjoy learning about new locations. I visited the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1997 and fell in love with the sxcenery. I still hope to visit Biltmore Estate sometime.
