I started reading Deanne Gist’s books in 2008 with A Bride Most Begrudging, and have been an AVID fan ever since. Her humor, romantic tension, and engaging plots keep the story moving forward in a beautiful blend of action, suspense, and romance. In celebration of her wonderful books, we’re going to look at three this week. Tuesday – Deep in the Heart of Trouble, Thursday- A Bride in the Bargain, and Friday – Maid to Match.
Here we go – from 2009:
Essie Spreckelmeyer is determined to break all the conventional rules, but will her heart be the next thing to break? She’s spunky, sassy, determined, and a bit too big for her bicycle-riding bloomers, but a fantastic heroine who (to quote Gone With the Wind) “needed to be kissed…and kissed by a man who knows how.” Tony Morgan turns out to be that man, but even he is surprised at his attraction for the independent Essie. It’s beautiful to watch both of their wills bend as they soften to the romance blooming between them, but both Tony and Essie have secrets. Will their secrets destroy the possibility of this pair riding off into the sunset in their bicycle built for two??
A great read. Funny and filled with deep, solid lessons about God’s forgiveness and the beauty of second chances. Deeanne Gist is a true winner at mixing comedy, drama, Christian principles, and just the right amount of kissing to leave the reader happily satisfied.
Hi Pepper,
I agree. I LOVE Deeanne Gist books!
I’m so happy to read the blurb about Deep in the Heart because I realized it’s the follow up to Courting Trouble, which I loved but was confused when Essie ended up alone! Can’t wait to read more about Essie! She was such fun!
Thanks for the great review!
Cheers,
Sue
