Patience – oooh, tough word. If you’re anything like me, my patience fruit isn’t too ripe on the spiritual vine. Whether it’s waiting on contest results, an editor’s response, or the first copies of your published novel – patience isn’t always the most glamorous – or easy reaction.
But even in those things, God is working in us the fruit of patience – to be more like Christ. Hey, God never said it’d be easy, right? 🙂
for those of us who are unpublished, we wait for the time when our ‘call’ comes. Of course, we’ve already received the call to be writers, but it might be a long journey to the CALL for publication. Patience may not be easy, but if we mix the first 3 with the last one, patience isn’t as inconceivable. It’s part of the process of writing and is a requirement for publication…and living
Colossians 1: 10-12
“And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.”
Just had James 1:1-4 as our family devotional tonight. Perservering through trials. It’s never fun. Even if it is not a trial, but just plain waiting…well, it can be tough. That’s where the trust comes in, isn’t it? And we have a great God who cares.

Ooo, patience. That’s a tough one. The concept has never been easy. I can so relate to the cartoon you posted, LOL! But as we realize our help is in the name of the Lord, and pray for patience despite our own desires, our end result is truly much better than we ever imagined.

This is big, big, big! I’m always amazed at how many writers, when asked what number of draft they’re on, say, “Two.”
