I know I haven’t blogged much this week, but wanted to let you know my family and I are taking a little vacation.
Where you ask?
Well, we didn’t go far –ย we’re staying in a cabin in the Smoky Mountains about 2 hours from home.
It’s beautiful, and quiet (or as quiet as any house can be with 5 kids and two (sometimes grumpy) parents ๐ We try to take a long weekend each summer before the kids get back into their school routine to just spend time together.
I’m putting some pics up of web pics until I can get home and upload some of my own pictures from our trip. But today we went to Dollywood & Lydia’s first roller coaster ๐ Aaron rode his first upside-down roller coaster today. Very momentous. I love roller coasters and the one called Mystery Mine was my favorite. (Aaron and Lydia’s too)
Tomorrow – if it rains- we’re going to tour the Titanic – a replica of the ill-fated ship. I LOVE studying history – and this particular exhibit has a place where you feel the coolness of the water and there is a replication of the Grand Staircase. WOW!!
We might go to Ripley’s Aquarium too and Cade’s Cove – a walking tour through a beautiful part of the Smokies and a replicated 1800s community.
Next week I will return to my regularly schedule blogs – or at least make sure I have something up Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – but for now let me introduce you to ‘my’ beautiful world ofย Eastern Tennesee.
AND if you want to read a FABULOUS writing article, check out Kaye Dacus’ post today at the Writers Alley. Top Ten Tips and it’s a keeper!
Good for you! I hope your time away is fun and refreshing!
Thanks Sherrinda,
We’re trying to decide what to do on this foggy, wet morning. I’m thinking…TITANIC!!
Great! A vacation in the Smoky Mountains and Dollywood. Hope every day is adventurious, but also relaxing. Enjoy!
Oh yeah, Rebecca
It’s so beautiful
Your vacation sounds absolutely heavenly. We used to take a weekend at the end of the summer and go to the State Fair for our family break. This year our summer is really hectic with both the kids heading to college. They’re the ones disappointed we aren’t doing our end of the summer break.
You’ve got a wonderful tradition going, Pep! Make the most of it while it lasts!!
Enjoy!!
Oh Audra,
TWO kids going off to college. WOW. I can’t imagine.
Thanks so much for stopping by. The kids sure like the trip :-)_
We’ve been trying to find a time to get away, too, but now it’s looking like Fall Break will be our vacation! When you’ve got one that actually lives away from home, and another in varsity soccer, it’s tough to get away this time of year! We will be going to the KY State Fair, though. My youngest and a friend won the regional 4H variety show, and will be performing Aug. 21!
