Dear Lord,
May I never lose sight of the truth that writing is
a calling, not an existence
a craft, not an accident
and a passion, not an obsession.
That being an author should never be taken lightly because words last forever, and have the unique power to provide
a touch of love
a balm of comfort
a breath of encouragement
or a tickle of laughter at the perfect moment.
Please help me to be a writer who glorifies you.
Whose words spin more than a well-written tale,
but a story sprinkled with enough flavor of your grace
that your children will find it satisfying
and unbelievers will crave another taste.
Oh Pepper, that was beautiful! May I live that prayer!
Amen, Sherrinda.
I’m right there with you.
It’s all about ‘focus’ and priorities. Regardless of editors, publishers, or contests.
The One who holds us….
The One who calls us…
will equip and guide us too.
I’m so glad, because I need all the help I can get 🙂
Wow, I love it, Pepper!!!!! I’m going to put this on my facebook!!!
Oh Melanie,
I’m so glad it touched you. I needed the reminder 🙂
Ditto, Pepper! This prayer is everything I feel and hope about storytelling and writing. It inspires me. Thanks for posting.
My pleasure, Kathryn. I’m so glad it blessed you.
I needed to remember it.
Pepper,
Beautiful prayer! I’m printing it and putting it right in front of me so every time I sit down to write, I read it.
Blessings,
Edwina
Oh Edwina, I have it up as a reminder too.
That is beautiful and so true. And SO needed in light of current items being emailed back….
Amen, Casey.
I’m right there with you.
God’s plan. God’s call. God’s timing 🙂
Thank you for the beautiful reminder. I will also read this frequently because it is an awesome opportunity to write. I try to write from my heart to the unseen audience. Smile.
A wonderful prayer!
