I’m pleased to finish off my Who’s Got Character blog 
segment with inspirational fiction author, Lena Nelson Dooley. Not only has she experienced storybook romance firsthand (she had one of those love-at-first-sight moments with her husband of about forty-five years), she’s spent many years refining the skill of writing to develop memorable inspirational romance stories.
Lena’s newest book, Love Finds You in Golden, New Mexico, has a release date for summer 2010.

Now for the Q & A:
1. Who is your favorite hero & heroine you’ve ever written? Why?
That’s like asking a parent who is their favorite child. I usually answer this question by saying the hero and heroine I’m working with right now. I love all of them for a variety of reasons.
How about I deal with the hero and heroine in Christmas Love at Lake Tahoe. Scarlett McKaye thinks she has everything under control in her life. And she doesn’t for anything to be out of control, because when she lost her fiance to death, everything was out of her control. So she doesn’t want to have anything to do with a man who allows danger into his life.
Enter Derrick Greene, who likes to participate in extreme kinds of sports, because he knows what he’s doing. Knowing Derrick changes Scarlett’s life forever. It helps reveal to her that she really doesn’t completely trust God if she lives in fear about anything.
2. What is the behind-the-scenes story of the making of those characters?
It’s hard to answer this question, too. I’m more of a 
seat-of-the-pants writer, instead of one who plans the characters down to the minutest detail. The characters grow and develop as the story unfolds, and I learn many things about them when I put them into hard circumstances. I love the way Scarlett and Derrick turned out. I think you will, too.
