Haddon Hall – an Austen & Bronte Experience

When I visited Derbyshire, UK in May 2008, and had the great fortune of touring Haddon Hall, a 12th century manor house in the Peak District. Easily my favorite site during the trip, it truly felt as if we stepped back in time to an Austen era…or before. This fortified Hall has been used in several movies, such as The Princess Bride, The Other Boleyn Girl, and the most recent Jane Eyre (as Thornfield), but it also boasts a bit of Austen too. Haddon Hall was used as the “Inn at Lambdon” in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice and was in BBC’s newest adaptation of Northanger Abbey as…well….Northanger Abbey 🙂

Enjoy a few of the pictures from my trip. I’ll try to post some more later.

Thanks, it was absolutely lovely – especially in June with the garden in bloom.
